Heather's Bio

Heather is a Blogger and Author, Life Change Coach and Public Speaker who is passionate about helping to nurture seeds of growth, potential and possibilities in others so that they may live extraordinary lives. As Heather says, “A beautiful field of daisies begins at the urging of one small seed.”

Here’s Heather’s story as to how she became a bit wild about daisies.

1963 – 1982 – Heather was born into the world, had a nice upbringing in rural Ontario and got good grades in school. Always an entrepreneur, one of her first youthful business ventures was selling her mom’s bumper crop of cucumbers door to door (note to the kids out there – this was not a huge money making venture....).

1982 – 1986 – After said cucumber venture, Heather decided that some business education might be in store so she goes to university like a good kid and gets a Bachelor of Commerce.

1987 – The right side of her brain was feeling ignored so Heather went to cooking school and found work as a chef, a career she enjoyed for the next few years.

1995 – Her left brain needed a workout again so she went back to school, enrolling in a Wellness and Lifestyle Management Program.

1996 – An avid cyclist, she joined a women’s mountain biking club called FlyGurlz and began to get into mountain bike racing and other crazy girly, sporty things.

1999 – She moved to Ottawa, Ontario from Toronto.

2003 – She wasn’t having a fun summer, shall we say. If it were put to lyrics, it would have made for a bad country song. She decided to take a much needed vacation and venture out west for a mountain bike race with three other women from FlyGurlz.

While driving up the highway to Whistler from Vancouver, aforementioned women wrote down words from signs at the side of the road, as a way to come up with nicknames for each other for the trip. Heather took the name “Daisy”, after Daisy Creek. Life was never the same again.

2004 – 2006 – By now, Heather had developed a bit of an addiction to homemade waffles and also realized that she didn’t love her office job anymore.  A helpful friend suggested she could start a bed and breakfast in her home.

2006 – Heather quit her secure job and fired up her waffle iron to pursue work that fuelled her soul. She named her bed and breakfast “A Wild Daisy” as a tribute to all the people who encouraged, supported and influenced her along the way. She also began to work as a personal trainer.

2006 – present – Change is constant in life.  Heather woke up in Spring 2009 and realized that the time had come to sell her house and sow some daisies in a new meadow, so to speak.  While she’d enjoyed operating the bed and breakfast and meeting many fabulous guests, she longed to pursue her true dreams in life and to nurture a few more seeds of her own.

She packed up her house, sold most of her belongings and chose to simplify things. She bought an RV, “Miss Daisy”, and left Ottawa in mid-July 2009 to see where her heart would take her.

Heather is currently in Nanaimo, BC where she continues to follow her heart while working on the following projects:
